Boxx Premiere of "Aphonia"

Boxx Magazine has premiered "Aphonia," the single from Lykanthea's debut solo release Migration. According to Boxx, "as a fully-fledged solo artist, Ramgopal embarks on a new journey with Lykanthea, a beautiful exploration of ancient cultures and mythical literature from exotic empires like Greece, where it was partly recorded, resulting in a breathtaking worldly view on over-sized, synth-based compositions."

Migration EP release date

Migration, Lykanthea's solo debut, drops digitally and on cassette on July 29. Written and recorded on Delos, Greece and in Chicago, IL, the EP is the first of a projected series inspired by the 4,000-year-old Sumerian myth of the goddess Inanna. Migration focuses on Inanna's journey to and from the underworld and examines the concept of rebirth within and across lifetimes.

Lykanthea also hosts the monthly series Kinetic Shapes on Radio One Chicago, is half of dancepop duo Love and Radiation and a Ph.D. student at the University of Chicago. Earlier this year, she released sundrowned, an EP co-written with Savage Sister.

Lykanthea's logo

Major love and thanks to Cassie Meder of CASSTRONAUT for designing this powerful logo for all things Lykanthea. The pushkinia flower comes from what was once called Mesopotamia, where the story of Inanna - the album's inspiration - was born. The snake is an ancient symbol for rebirth and wisdom. It bears extra significance because this album was partly written and recorded on the island of Delos, known as the birthplace of Apollo and the home of many, many snakes.
